The Origin Acoustics D85 is a premium 3-way in-ceiling loudspeaker from the Director Collection, designed for installers seeking exceptional performance without moving to the flagship glass fibre or Kevlar models.
Featuring a fully pivoting 3-way driver array with an 8" IMG woofer, 4" IMG midrange and Origin's exclusive DPSD™ silk dome tweeter, the D85 delivers powerful bass, excellent vocal clarity and wide dispersion. It is ideally suited to premium whole-home audio, media rooms and home cinema installations.

Tri-Linear Configuration (TLC)
The D85 is a true 3-way loudspeaker. By dividing the frequency range between dedicated bass, midrange and high-frequency drivers, each driver works more efficiently, resulting in improved detail, dynamics and vocal clarity.
DPSD™ Tweeter
Origin's patented Dual Plane Stabilised Diaphragm tweeter reduces distortion, improves dispersion and allows a lower crossover point, creating a smoother transition between drivers and a more natural sound.
X-Wave™ Woofer Surround
The X-Wave surround absorbs unwanted cone reflections and resonance, reducing harmonic distortion while maintaining accurate bass reproduction.
Tool-less Installation
Origin's patented mounting system distributes pressure evenly across the ceiling surface, reducing vibration transfer while providing a faster and more secure installation than traditional dog-leg fixings.
Why Installers Like It
The D85 sits at the sweet spot of the Director 8" range. It delivers the benefits of a true 3-way design and fully pivoting driver array at a more accessible price point than the D87 and D89.
